Child Protection Policy

Guidelines
LSC believes that all children and young people have the right to enjoy their
chosen sport free from all forms of abuse and exploitation.
LSC accepts that the welfare of the child is paramount as per the Children’s
Act 1989.
All allegations of alleged abuse will be taken seriously, acted upon and
responded to within an appropriate time frame.
All those within LSC have a responsibility to report child protection
concerns to the Child Welfare Officer (CWO), a member of the executive
committee or a member of coaching staff.
If abuse is suspected the CWO will refer the matter to the relevant statutory
or voluntary bodies.
All of those working, volunteering or seeking to work within LSC are required
to undergo checks to ensure suitability in accordance with both current
government legislation and A.S.A guidelines
Anyone refusing to undergo this screening will not be eligible to work or
help with children in LSC.
All those working and helping within LSC have a duty to familiarise
themselves with current A.S.A child welfare guidelines.
LSC will undertake to review this policy annually or if a major change in
legislation occurs.
